Terms of service

What you get when you buy Digital Center, and what stays your responsibility.

Last updated: 2 October 2026

Who we are

ZenPoint develops and sells Digital Center, a media center for Windows. These terms apply when you download, install or use Digital Center and the companion tool ZenPoint Media Manager. If anything here is unclear, please contact us.

The licence covers the software, not the content

This is the most important thing to understand about Digital Center. What you buy is the right to use the program. You supply the content yourself - your music, your films, your videos, your photos, your games - and you are responsible for holding the rights and permissions needed to play it.

That includes public performance rights where they apply. If you use Digital Center commercially - in a bar, a restaurant, a hotel, a club, at events, or as a paid jukebox where guests pay to play music - the licences and permissions for playing that music in public are yours to obtain, typically from the collecting society or rights holders in your country. Our licence does not grant them and cannot replace them.

We do not supply, host or resell any music, film or other media, and buying Digital Center gives you no rights to any content.

Third-party services

Digital Center can play from services we neither own nor control, including YouTube and internet radio stations. When you use them you are using those services under their own terms, and it is your responsibility to follow them. That also covers whether a given service may be used commercially or in a public setting at all - some allow it, some do not, and the answer belongs to the service, not to us.

These services can change, restrict or withdraw access at any time, and we cannot guarantee that a feature which depends on them will keep working.

One licence, one machine

A licence lets you run Digital Center on one computer at a time. If you want to run it on several machines, you need a licence for each of them.

Digital Center comes in three editions - Room, Home and Professional - which include different features. Which features belong to which edition is shown on our pricing page, and that page is the current description at any given time.

Your licence does not expire

A licence you have bought is yours to keep. It does not run out after a year, and you never have to buy it again to go on using it. There is no subscription behind the licence itself.

Commercial use and renting out equipment

The Home edition is for private, non-commercial use only. Any commercial use needs a Professional licence for each machine it runs on.

With Professional you are welcome to use Digital Center commercially in your own business - in a bar, a restaurant, a venue or at events - and you may rent out or otherwise make equipment with Digital Center installed available to others. The licences stay yours.

When you put the equipment in someone else's hands, you are responsible for making sure that whoever uses it keeps to these terms. That matters most for the point above: the music being played in public has to be covered by the rights and permissions of the place where it is played. Many venues already hold them, but it is worth agreeing who does before the equipment goes out.

The one thing that cannot be passed on is the licences themselves. The equipment may be rented out; the licences are not yours to resell, issue or hand over to someone else as their own.

Free trial

You can try Digital Center free of charge before you buy. The trial runs for a limited period on the machine you install it on, and some features are limited until you activate a licence. The current trial length is stated where you download the program.

Activation, moving and copying

When you activate your licence it is bound to the computer you activate it on. You can move it yourself to a new computer from My Licenses on zenpoint.org - useful when you replace a machine or reinstall Windows.

Each licence allows up to five such moves on your own. After that, moving it again requires us to open it up for you, which we are happy to do once we know what happened. The limit exists so a licence key that leaks cannot travel from machine to machine indefinitely.

If the same licence is used on two machines at once, our system may block it automatically. A blocked licence cannot be moved by you - it has to go through us, and we can unblock it. If you think a licence was blocked by mistake, write to us and we will look at it.

The program checks in with our server

Digital Center checks in with our licence server from time to time, so the program needs internet access now and then. This is a technical check that the licence is still valid and still in use on one machine. It is not a renewal you pay for, and it does not put an end date on the licence.

The program keeps working for a period without a connection, so a temporary outage is not a problem, but the connection cannot be left out permanently. A machine that never reaches us will eventually stop treating the licence as active.

Data the program sends us

Digital Center reports usage data to us, including a fingerprint of the machine, licence details, and which parts of the program are opened. We use it to enforce the licence and to see which features are worth developing further. What is collected and why is described in our privacy policy.

Updates

We release updates to Digital Center. Some of them are required for the program to keep working, and you may be asked to install one before you can continue.

What a licence includes is set out in the purchase terms that applied when you bought it. Individual features may in future require a separate subscription; your licence keeps working without them.

What we do not promise

Digital Center is provided as it is. We do our best to make it stable and to fix problems, but we do not promise that it will run without interruption or without faults, or that it will suit a particular purpose you have in mind. Our liability is limited to what applicable law allows.

Please keep your own backups of your media and your settings. Digital Center does not replace a backup.

What you may not do

  • Resell, rent out or pass on licences as if they were yours to issue. Renting out equipment you own is a different thing, and is fine with Professional - see "Commercial use and renting out equipment" above.
  • Work around, disable or tamper with the licence check, the trial limits or the edition limits.
  • Decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the software, except where the law gives you the right to do so.
  • Use the software in a way that breaks the law where you are.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Digital Center at any time. We can block a licence if it is misused or if these terms are broken - for example if it turns out to be running on several machines at once, or if the licence check has been tampered with. Where the situation allows it, we will contact you first.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product and the licence model develop. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. Continuing to use Digital Center after a change means the updated terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the country where ZenPoint is established, and any dispute is settled by the courts there. If you are a consumer, this does not take away rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
