Videos/Music Videos

Hi Rick and Team,
A boring Sunday afternoon and I am messing around with videos, even though I am putting music videos in that section.
I had a look at the settings and I found where if you click on play now then it auto full screens.
However, when you add to the queue the music plays but the video does not go full screen.
So it is a pain having to click the full screen box all the time.
I know that some people will have videos of random stuff such as the grand kids that they might want to call videos.
However, for myself a dedicated music video section would be fantastic especially if people wanted both, so one for the family videos and growing up and then one for music videos.
I know for myself I would personally want this called music videos rather than videos so it looks more polished.
I have only done brief testing, so my apologies if I am missing something.
I have some music videos which I have just tried from Adele they show up as separate files and they are in an Adele folder, and file names are 01 - 2008 - Adele - Chasing Pavements etc and tagged in the same manner and I have the album title set for Adele and one artist.
It would be fantastic if these were grouped in such a way that one Adele was available and then you click on the artist and it either shows her songs as it does now or comes up like a listing for a music cd does as current.
I am using vertical and I know that this is a lot of work, but when I play it is in the middle, having it at the top with the same thing as music or even combing MP3's and music videos would be even more fantastic so you can select if you want to just play audio or music video.
I know that this is a Christmas wish list but it would make the software even more fantastic than it has become.
Regards
Mark

Hi Mark,
Your Sunday afternoon of testing has already turned into three improvements, and all three will be in the next release.
Coming in the next release
- Full screen when you add to the queue. When nothing is playing and you tap "Add", "Play Next" or "Add All", the video now goes straight to full screen, the same way "Play Now" does. If something is already playing, the video simply joins the queue and you stay in the list. The setting is now called "Open full screen when playback starts" (Administration → Plugins → Music Videos).
- "Video" is renamed "Music Videos". You were right that it looks more polished, and it describes what the section is built for.
- No more black bars on a vertical screen. A new setting, "Fill the empty space" (Administration → Plugins → Music Videos), fills the area above and below the video with either a visualizer that moves with the music or a softly blurred copy of the video's cover. The video itself stays untouched in the middle. It only applies when the video is set to "Fit" and doesn't fill the screen, so it is ideal for your vertical setup.
Things you can already do today
- Family videos in their own place. The Photos section also plays videos, shown next to your photos and organized by folder or by events. That makes it a natural home for the grandkids' videos, while Music Videos stays purely for music.
- One "Adele" instead of many single videos. Tap "Artists" in the bottom menu of the video section. Adele appears once, and tapping her shows all her videos. You can also group the main grid by artist with the grouping button at the end of the A-Z bar.
- MP3s and music videos together. Open a music playlist under Administration → Playlists and turn on "Mixed playlist", then choose the sections it should cover, for example Music and Music Videos. Songs and music videos then share one queue, and you can jump between the sections from the menu.
A CD-style album page for music videos isn't something we plan to add, since each video is shown on its own. The same goes for automatically linking an MP3 to the music video of the same song, because matching them reliably is harder than it sounds.
Thanks again for the ideas.
