Video Setup
Asked by Steq184 on September 13, 2026 - 2 replies
Managed to sort out the music side, now moving on to music videos.
First issue I see is that every video seems to be separately shown although some videos are grouped into band names folders.
Do they need certain naming formats to do this?

Hi Steq184 I have been testing today. I can confirm that you are experiencing the same as I am.
I have about 9 Adele videos and I tagged them as follows
Artist Adele, Album Adele, Album Artist Adele
I am still getting each song as separate videos.
I have made a post just above you same subject but more in depth that a separate centre should be for music videos rather than videos in general.
Videos could mean cat videos and they are not music video related.
So it is not just you that is having the same problem.

Mark

Hi @Steq184 and @Mark Norville,
What works today
The first page in the video center shows one tile per video on purpose, but you can already group them by artist in two ways:
- Tap Artists in the bottom menu, or
- Tap the small grouping button at the end of the letter bar and choose By artist. All videos by the same artist then fold into one tile, and tapping it opens that artist's page.
The artist comes from the file's Artist tag. If there's no tag, it's taken from the file name when it's written as Artist - Title (for example Adele - Hello.mp4). The Album tag doesn't affect grouping for videos. Mark, your Adele videos should already appear together under Artists.
Coming in the next release
Based on your posts, the following will be included in the next release:
- The folder name counts as the artist. If a video has neither an Artist tag nor an Artist - Title file name, the name of the folder it's in is used. So Music Videos\Adele\Hello.mp4 shows up under Adele, with no tagging needed.
- The center can open already grouped. A new setting, Grouping at start, under Administration → Music Videos lets you choose By artist, so you don't have to pick it each time.
- The video center is renamed Music Videos, so it's clear what belongs there. Family and other videos fit well in Photos, which also plays video.
