Karaoke freezing
Asked by Lark64 on September 7, 2026 - 3 replies
Hello, I'm really enjoying the software but I am consistently running into a karaoke issue.
About halfway through a song, the lyrics start lagging significantly making it impossible to finish a song.
The same files on the same computer do not have that issue when using different software.
Any thoughts?

Hi @Lark64 , and thanks for the kind words about the software.
Thank you for reporting this, and especially for the detail that the same files play fine in other software. That pointed us straight at the cause, and you are right: the files are not the problem. We are.
Here is what happens. For karaoke graphics we redraw the picture from the very beginning of the song every time we refresh it, roughly twelve times a second. Early on that costs nothing, but the further into the song you get, the more there is to redraw each time. Eventually the machine can no longer keep up, and the graphics start falling behind the music. That is exactly why it creeps in around the middle of a song and gets steadily worse from there, and why a faster machine gets further before it shows.
The fix is to build each picture on top of the previous one instead of starting over every time, so the work stays the same from the first second to the last. We are making that change now, and it will go out in an upcoming update. We will follow up in this thread when it ships.
One thing that would help us confirm we have covered your exact case: are your songs MP3+G, meaning an .mp3 with a matching .cdg graphics file next to it? The above applies to those. If you are using plain lyrics files instead, we would like to look at that separately.
Thanks again for a genuinely useful report.

Hello, yes the files are MP3+G.
Thank you for the quick response and I look forward to the update and fix!

Thanks for confirming. MP3+G is exactly the case we tracked down, so the fix lands squarely on your setup.
The change is made and tested, and it will go out with an upcoming update.
